The Sylvan Lake Open Water Swim course takes place in the calm, freshwater environment of Sylvan Lake. The swim starts and finishes at Sylvan Lake Park, with courses marked by buoys for each distance. The lake is known for its generally smooth surface and minimal current, providing ideal conditions for open water swimming. There is no significant elevation change, as the event is entirely water-based. Water temperatures in July are typically comfortable for swimming, and safety measures are in place throughout the course.
