The Windsor Waterfront Half Marathon & 5K returns to Windsor, Ontario on September 13, 2026. Held along the city’s riverfront, the event showcases Windsor’s flat, fast streets and waterfront parks while offering views across the Detroit River. Organizers position the race as a showcase for Windsor and as a fundraiser to raise money and awareness for local charities that serve the community.
This is a timed, certified out-and-back event offering two distances: a Half Marathon and a 5K. The 5K starts at 7:00 a.m. and the Half Marathon follows at 8:30 a.m. Packet pickup takes place at Walkerville Brewery in the days before race weekend (Thursday through Saturday), and there is no packet pickup on race morning. The course closes to vehicles early on race day, and Riverside Drive is fully closed to traffic for the event.
What sets this race apart is the combination of a traffic-free, pancake-flat course and strong waterfront scenery — runners start with the Detroit skyline on their left, pass the Hiram Walker distillery and run underneath the Ambassador Bridge into historic Sandwich. Turnaround points feature music and spectators, the final stretch drops into a downhill that leads into the festival plaza, and a post-race celebration includes food trucks and refreshments. Race packets include a custom Windsor Waterfront T-shirt and finishers receive a commemorative 4" medal.
Registration for the 2026 edition opens October 20, 2025; interested runners should register early to secure a spot and review event specifics such as race-day logistics and packet-pickup details on the event registration page.
