The St. Lawrence Marathon takes place each April in Cornwall, Ontario — the 2026 edition is scheduled for April 25. The race has been held in the spring since at least 2002 and is run by a local volunteer committee made up of long-time area runners and community organizers.
The event offers a full marathon plus a half-marathon, 10 km and 5 km distances. Marathon runners board shuttle buses from St. Lawrence College to the Crysler Park Marina start (buses run in the early morning), with the marathon gun typically at 7:00 a.m., the half at 9:00 a.m., and the 10 km and 5 km starting later in the morning. An awards ceremony follows mid-day and the finish area closes in the early afternoon.
What sets St. Lawrence apart is the waterfront routing: the marathon follows the St. Lawrence River and sections of the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail before finishing on the St. Lawrence College campus. The event functions as a community festival — local sponsors and volunteers support on-course logistics, and finishers receive a commemorative t-shirt, swag and a special-edition finisher’s medal. Race-day amenities include post-race refreshments in the college gymnasium, access to change rooms, and ample complimentary parking at the college.
Registration for the 2026 race is open; runners can sign up in advance and should note race-kit pickup windows are scheduled at a local hotel the day before and the day of the race (marathon runners are required to pick up kits during the posted times).
