The Shamrock Shuffle 2026
The Shamrock Shuffle is a community-focused walk and run held each spring in St. Thomas, Ontario. The 2026 edition takes place on March 28 and marks the event's 13th annual run. It is organized as a fundraiser in support of The INN St. Thomas Elgin, a low-barrier homeless shelter that receives proceeds from the event.
The Shuffle is untimed and offers three options to suit families and casual participants: a 5 km run, a 5 km walk and a 2 km family walk. Activities are based at Central United Church (135 Wellington Street) and the event welcomes walkers and runners of all paces. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
What sets the Shamrock Shuffle apart is its small-town, community spirit and its direct charity focus. Participants receive a free cinch bag while supplies last and post-race refreshments are provided. The event recognizes fundraising and fun with trophies for Top Fundraising Team, Top Fundraising Individual, Oldest and Youngest Participant, and Best Dressed Individual and Team, plus a 50/50 draw. In the previous year the Shuffle attracted 158 participants, 15 sponsors and raised over $29,000 for the shelter.
Registration is available online through March 25, 2026; in-person kit pick-up is held the evening before the race (March 27) and on race morning until 8:45 a.m. The standard registration fee is $30. The Shuffle goes ahead regardless of weather and welcomes leashed dogs on the route (dogs are not permitted inside the church building).
