About NBMCA's Mattawa River Canoe Race 2025

The Mattawa River Canoe Race (MRCR) is an annual paddling event organized by the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority. Established in 1976, the race offers a historic 64 km route from North Bay to Mattawa Island Conservation Area along the Mattawa River, a Canadian Heritage River. Participants face a mix of water, rapids, and portages.

The event also includes a 13 km race, designed for accessibility and social paddling, suitable for all skill levels with only one portage. The race attracts over 100 paddlers ranging from competitive racers to recreational enthusiasts.
