The 5k Race for Plates 2026 is a community-minded 5K walk/run hosted by Stock The Summer in Whitby, Ontario. The race takes place on Saturday, August 1, 2026, starting at 8:30 AM from Kiwanis Heydenshore Park on the Whitby waterfront.

Participants follow a scenic, fast, and largely flat route along the Heydenshore waterfront trail, with the course beginning and ending near the Heydenshore pavilion. The event welcomes runners and walkers of all speeds, with a two-hour cutoff and a family-friendly feel.

Race for Plates supports local food banks by encouraging participants to bring non-perishable food items on race day. The event also includes professional timing, free race photos, finisher medals, sponsor perks, and a new children 12-and-under category.

The course starts and finishes near the Heydenshore pavilion at Kiwanis Heydenshore Park. Runners and walkers use the paved waterfront trail, heading out toward the parking lot on Thickson Road before turning around and returning on the opposite side of the path.

A water station is available on course and at the start/finish area, and public parking and washrooms are available near the venue. Walkers are welcome, and participants should plan to finish within the two-hour cutoff.
