Women's Intro to Trail Running Camp is a one-day clinic held on May 9, 2026 in Crowsnest Pass, Alberta and organized by Sinister Sports. Designed specifically for women who are new to trail running or preparing for a first trail race, the camp brings together a small group of runners for on-trail coaching, classroom discussion and social time in a mountain setting. The event takes place at Pass Powderkeg Lodge and is limited to 30 participants.
The day combines short on-trail sessions with in-class learning: participants cover approximately 5–10 km of local trails at a relaxed pace with frequent stops to work on technique. The program includes a pre-event online meet-up to set goals, in-class discussions on topics such as gear and basic trail skills, and an optional post-event social. There is also an optional casual group run the following day for anyone who wants extra time on the trails.
What makes this camp useful is its practical, small-group format and the local coaching expertise. Registrants receive lunch and custom swag as part of the fee, and sessions focus on hands-on skills—downhill technique, trail footing, and race-prep basics—rather than endurance training. Coach Sarah Nurcombe leads the camp; she brings outdoor leadership credentials, experience on local ultra courses, and a background in rehabilitation and endurance coaching, so instruction blends safety, technique and local route knowledge.
Registration is handled through Race Roster; the listed cost is $75 plus GST and spots are limited, so early registration is recommended.
