Saanich Physio + Bazan Bay 5K 2026
The Saanich Physio + Bazan Bay 5K takes place on April 12, 2026 in Sidney, British Columbia and is organized by Vancouver Island Race Series (Island Series). The in-person road race attracts fast 5K seekers and recreational runners alike and is capped at 900 entrants for 2026.
This is a single-day, in-person 5K road race with a mass start at 11:00 a.m. Packet pick-up is available Saturday, April 11 at Frontrunners (Shelbourne Plaza) from 1:00–4:00 p.m. and Sunday morning at Mary Winspear Centre from 9:00–10:30 a.m. There is no day-of registration; entries are online only and online registration closes at 12:00 noon on Friday, April 11, 2026.
What sets Bazan Bay apart is the course itself: a nearly flat, oceanfront out-and-back that ranks among the fastest 5K routes in Canada. The layout features a single 180-degree turnaround roughly 2.5 km from the start, a gentle uphill on the outbound and a quick downhill return, and sweeping views of Sidney Island along the waterfront. Island Series provides live online results and detailed scoring, including five-year age-group, age-graded and team/club points. The event also includes post-race refreshments, draw prizes and awards and incorporates a fundraising component for KidSport Greater BC.
Online registration is available through the official event site; because the field is capped and entries move quickly, runners planning travel via BC Ferries or Victoria International Airport should register early. Packet pick-up and race-day logistics are listed on the event page for registered participants.
