Mizuno Midsummer 5k 2026 Presented by Smith Thompson Law LLP returns to Edmonton in July — the in-person event is set for July 11, 2026 at Gold Bar Park. Organized by Running Solutions with race director Matt Norminton, this is the 16th annual edition of the Midsummer 5K tradition in Edmonton.
The event runs as a hybrid: an in-person 5K Run/Walk starts at 10:00 a.m. at Gold Bar Park, followed by a Kids 1K Fun Run/Walk at 11:00 a.m. A virtual option opens Thursday, July 9 and runs through Sunday, July 12 so participants across Canada can complete their 5K on their own courses and submit GPS proof of effort.
What sets this edition apart is the deluxe entry package and competitive prize structure. Every 5K entrant receives a Mizuno Wave Rider 29 running shoe (women’s sizes 6–11, men’s sizes 8–13 in specified widths) plus a pair of GoodR sunglasses — a combined retail value of over $200. Kids who run the 1K receive a finisher’s medal. Mizuno awards top-three prizes in defined age groups, virtual runners can qualify by submitting a GPS link, and the in-person event pays cash to the fastest three open runners and the fastest three women. Proceeds support the Concordia Thunder cross-country and indoor track teams.
Registration follows tiered pricing with windows listed through June 28; entrants outside Edmonton can have their race package shipped to a local Running Room store. For questions or race-day details contact race director Matt Norminton at 780-439-3099.
