The Dino Dash was established in 2004 by two University of Calgary students to support the university's Dinos cross-country and track & field teams. Over the years, it has raised over $150,000, contributing to scholarships, competition opportunities, and uniforms.

The event features 5 km and 10 km road races, including stroller divisions and a kids' track event.
