The Devil's Ladder Ultra returns to Cumberland, B.C. on July 11, 2026. Organized by the Perseverance Adventure Club and building on a successful 2025 edition that drew nearly 500 runners, Devil’s Ladder stakes its claim as one of Vancouver Island’s standout summer trail races. The event centers on Cumberland’s village green and the adjacent Cumberland Forest, where coastal rainshadow ecosystems produce fast, fun singletrack.
Race day features three distances: the Full Send 50K, the Dirty 30K and a 15K Fun Run. All races start and finish at Village Park; the 50K field begins early (bib pickup for 50K is available on race morning with a 7:00 a.m. start after a mandatory briefing), the 30K starts mid-morning and the 15K launches later in the day. Racers can pick up bibs the Friday before at Foveō Running (including optional sweat testing and a pre-race social) or on race morning during designated windows.
What sets Devil’s Ladder apart is its combination of high-quality singletrack and a genuine community festival at the finish. Courses thread challenging climbs, flowy technical sections and steep, quad-testing descents through the Cumberland Forest rainshadow. After the run, Village Park becomes a party with live music, a post-race buffet, a beer garden (drink ticket provided at check-in) and family-friendly atmosphere. The race is volunteer-run and raises funds for local groups including the Cumberland Community Forest Society, United Riders of Cumberland and Comox Valley Ground Search & Rescue. Aid stations are well stocked and race staff prioritizes safety and low-waste practices (this is a cup-free event).
Registration opens December 7, 2025; entries are limited so prospective runners are encouraged to register early.
