The Calgary Women's Run, established in 1979, is one of Canada's oldest women's running events. It encourages women of all ages to engage in physical activity and promotes health, wellness, and athletic excellence. The run is entirely volunteer-led, and all proceeds support local charities. Recently, the event partnered with the Urban Society for Aboriginal Youth (USAY) to address period poverty by providing menstrual and hygiene products to those in need.
The event offers 5km and 10km races along the Bow River in Edworthy Park, with group warm-ups, awards ceremonies, and a focus on community and connection.
