Black Spur Ultra 2026
Black Spur Ultra 2026 takes place August 22–23 in Kimberley, British Columbia and is organized by Sinister Sports Inc. Advertised as the 11th running, the event returns to Kimberley Alpine Resort as an on-mountain ultramarathon weekend that attracts technical trail runners from across Western Canada and beyond.
The weekend is multi-distance and multi-day. Race weekend activity begins with Friday check-in and a racer meeting; main race day is Saturday with the 108K and 54K starting together at 8:00 a.m. MDT, the Half Marathon at 8:30 a.m., and the Kids Race at 9:00 a.m. The 108K continues into Sunday with its final cutoffs and an awards presentation Sunday morning. Relay formats are available — the 108K accepts teams up to six runners and the 54K accepts teams of two or three — alongside full solo fields.
What sets Black Spur apart is the mountain singletrack: sustained climbs, technical descents and alpine scenery framed by Kimberley Alpine Resort. Both the 108K and 54K are UTMB-qualifying courses and carry significant elevation gain (approximately 4,460 m for the 108K and 2,230 m for the 54K). The event runs a staffed transition area at the resort, provides live timing and course tracking, professional medical coverage, post-race meals and complimentary race photos. Solo finishers receive a Black Spur trophy and relay finishers receive a custom medal.
Registration is limited to 500 entrants and closes at 23:59 MST on August 17 or when events sell out. Runners should register through the official event registration page and consult the racer information package for full rules, cutoffs and logistics.
