The 5 Peaks Trail Running Series: Weaselhead 2025 is a celebrated trail running event held in Calgary, Alberta, and serves as the grand finale of the Central Alberta series. Since its inception, the event has drawn trail runners from across the region, eager to experience the unique terrain and vibrant natural beauty of the Weaselhead Flats. Set against the backdrop of the 237-hectare Weaselhead Natural Area, the event emphasizes environmental stewardship, with a cup-free policy to minimize waste and encourage sustainable practices. Participants can expect a well-organized race that highlights the best of Calgary’s urban wilderness, with courses designed to challenge both novice and experienced trail runners. The event offers multiple distances, ensuring there is something for everyone, from young children to seasoned athletes.

The Weaselhead courses traverse a mix of hard-packed and singletrack trails, with approximately 95% of the route on natural surfaces. Runners encounter technical sections, steep climbs, and fast, flowing descents. The Enduro course covers 14.0 km with about 110 meters of elevation gain, while the Sport course is 7.6 km and suitable for entry-level participants. The terrain is varied, featuring forested paths, open meadows, and scenic views of the Elbow River and surrounding parkland. Both kids' races (1K and 3K) are designed to be safe and fun, utilizing accessible sections of the park.
