The 2026 5 Peaks Trail Running Series — Whitemud Park takes place May 31 in Edmonton, Alberta. Organized by 5 Peaks, this stop sits in the city’s River Valley and attracts local trail runners and families looking for a technically engaging spring challenge. Packet pick-up is available the day before at Fast Trax and again on race morning, with an awards ceremony after the races.
The event offers multiple distances to suit a range of goals: Kids’ 1 km and 3 km runs, a Sport course of roughly 8.3 km, and an Enduro single loop of approximately 13.4 km. Packet pick-up is Saturday from 12:00–2:00 p.m. at Fast Trax and begins again Sunday at 8:30 a.m. Kids’ starts run mid-morning, Sherri’s Back-of-the-Pack Sport start and self-seeded waves for Sport/Enduro begin on race morning, and post-race food and awards follow once results are compiled.
Whitemud stands out as one of the tougher Northern Alberta 5 Peaks venues: expect hardpack trails, fast singletrack, bridge crossings, sharp up-and-down sections, and technical root-and-rock stretches that demand attention and agility. The event is cup-free — water and electrolyte drink are provided at the start/finish and at course aid stations, so runners planning to be out longer than an hour should carry their own hydration. Swag and optional finisher medals are available for purchase during registration or on site, and an on-site awards presentation recognizes category podiums.
Register early through Race Roster to secure a spot, select swag, and pre-purchase optional finisher medals. Parking at Whitemud Park is limited, so carpooling is recommended.
