Whistler 50 Relay & Ultra takes place on Saturday, October 3, 2026 in Whistler, BC and is organized by BC Athletics. The one-day festival-style race returns to Whistler Olympic Plaza and the Lost Lake / Valley Trail corridor, drawing teams and solo ultra runners to a scenic fall weekend in the resort municipality.
The event offers two main entry types: a 50-mile (80 km) team relay and a solo 50 km ultra. Relays start at 7:30 a.m. (teams of four or eight) and solo ultra runners start at 7:45 a.m. Eight-person teams alternate 10 km legs; four-person teams run equal 20 km legs (alternate leg configurations can be requested). Solo ultra competitors complete five 10 km loops to cover the full 50 km.
What sets Whistler 50 apart is the looped course and community atmosphere — runners circle Lost Lake Park and the Valley Trail system so supporters can pop in at multiple access points and the finish-line party at Whistler Olympic Plaza stays in play throughout race day with music, food and drink. The event also gives back: proceeds support the Whistler Food Bank and BC Athletics. Teams are required to provide one volunteer shift each, which keeps course marshals in place and strengthens the community vibe.
Registration is open with field limits (85 relay teams for the 50-mile relay and 150 solo spots for the 50K). Early pricing tiers run through the summer and into September; entrants must select garment sizes during registration (size changes accepted online until September 1). Runners and teams are encouraged to register early to secure a spot and their preferred apparel selection.
