The Coaster 2026 runs on 6 June in Sechelt, British Columbia — a trail-focused race that explores the forested ridges and coastal inlets of the Sunshine Coast. Events take place around Kinnikinnick Park and on sections of the local trail network that thread between the ocean and the Sechelt Inlet. The race carries the event’s long-standing tagline “by the trails, for the trails” and emphasizes local trail stewardship.
The weekend is compact but full: package pickup and an official shakeout run happen on the Friday before the race (package pickup 14:00–18:00 at Trail Bay Source for Sports; shakeout at 17:00). Race day on Saturday features four distances — a 42K marathon, a 21K half, a 10K, and a kids Cub run — with staggered starts (marathon 07:00, half 09:30, 10K 10:00, Cubs 13:00). Race-morning pickup and chip collection are available between 06:00 and 10:00 at the start/finish.
What sets The Coaster apart is its trail-first, community-driven approach: proceeds support the Coast Mountain Bike Trail Association (CMBTA), aid stations include local touches (CMBTA Party Aid Stations serve Naak waffles, hydration mix, fruit and snacks), and the event operates cupless to minimize waste. The race also runs chip timing, allows crew access at designated aid stations (with driving access recommended for rough roads), and finishes the day with a Tapworks after-party in Gibsons — a chance for runners and supporters to swap stories.
Entries for the 6 June 2026 race are sold out; volunteer registration remains open for those who want to help on race day.
