The Santa Shuffle began in 1990 in Edmonton, Alberta, as a local fundraiser for The Salvation Army. By 2001, it expanded into a national event held in various cities across Canada. The event includes a 5K Fun Run and a 1K Elf Walk, welcoming participants of all ages and skill levels. Funds raised support local Salvation Army initiatives.
The Hamilton edition is held annually in early December with runners encouraged to wear festive Santa suits or elf costumes, making it a joyful community event supporting local Salvation Army programs.
