La French Run returns to Calgary in September 2026 for its fifth anniversary edition. Organized by the Alliance Française of Calgary, this neighbourhood road and path run celebrates five years of francophone culture and community in the city while raising funds for the Alliance Française.
The event is a single-day affair on Sunday, September 20 with a mix of distances: a 5 km run/walk, a 10 km run and a 1 km kids fun run for ages 4–10. Schedule highlights list the kids race at 9:00 AM and both the 10 km and 5 km starting around 9:30 AM (start times subject to minor change). Post-race tasting of French pastries is set to follow the morning runs.
What sets La French Run apart is its small, community-focused atmosphere and a distinctly French finish-line treat: runners end their course with views of Glenmore Reservoir and a tasting of French pastries at 10:00 AM. The event routes are out-and-back on established running paths that showcase fall colours along the reservoir and — on the 10 km — a stretch beside Earl Grey Golf Course. Proceeds support the Alliance Française of Calgary, and the weekend includes organized packet pick-up at local locations.
Registration uses tiered pricing with youth rates available; late pricing runs through mid-September. Race package pick-up is offered at Alliance Française (1721 29 Ave SW) and at Strides Running Store in Marda Loop on the weekend before the race. Runners should note that strollers and dogs are not permitted on race day.
