Set against the towering backdrop of Alberta’s Rocky Mountains, the Canmore Rocky Mountain race series brings runners together for an unforgettable experience amidst nature’s finest scenery. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or joining for the fun and fresh air, this event blends the thrill of trail running with the welcoming spirit of a mountain town. The race includes multiple events that cater to different age groups and abilities, all starting from picturesque Centennial Park.
In its 29th year, the event is known for strong community engagement and a laid-back vibe that makes both new and returning participants feel right at home. Runners enjoy a seamless mix of physical challenge and breathtaking surroundings, while spectators and volunteers line the trails to cheer every athlete forward. Participants can choose from multiple categories, including Trail, Fun Run, and 10K, making it a celebration for everyone.
Runners navigate mixed surfaces of asphalt and groomed gravel trails that weave through scenic terrain, including short inclines and flat sections along river pathways and forested trails. Starting in Centennial Park, all courses highlight Canmore’s beautiful landscapes with strategically placed aid stations and crowd support areas to keep participants motivated. While the Trail nature of the courses adds some variety, the routes are manageable for most skill levels. Bib pickup begins several days before race day at the park, with on-the-day pickup also available starting 45 minutes prior to each start time. The event caps participation at around 2,000 runners, maintaining a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere throughout.
