2026 5 Peaks Trail Running Series: Bowmont Park
The 2026 5 Peaks Trail Running Series: Bowmont Park takes place July 25 in Calgary and is organized by 5 Peaks. This stop in the series uses the valley trails west of downtown Calgary and centers on a start/finish at Varsity Village Park. 5 Peaks runs a network of regional trail events; Bowmont Park brings the series into an urban-river setting that combines singletrack with multi-use pathways.
The event offers distances for a wide set of plans: a Kid’s 1 km and Kid’s 3 km in the morning, a Sport run or hike at 7.4 km and an Enduro run or hike at 11.7 km. Kids’ races start around 8:15–8:30 a.m.; adult waves begin at 9:00 a.m. (Wave #1 – Speedy Runners, Wave #2 – Mid Pack, Wave #3 – Hikers/Walkers). Packet pick-up opens Friday afternoon at Strides (Canyon Meadows) and onsite packet pick-up begins at 7:30 a.m. on race day.
What sets Bowmont apart is the route itself and the community setup around it. The course climbs onto the Sideshow Bob singletrack — built into the side of a cliff and offering sweeping valley and Bow River views — then drops into Dale Hodges Park and links river-parallel trails before swinging through Silverthorn Park. Runners should expect rolling hills, a few steep climbs and descents, and summer heat. After the race, post-race food is available in the Expo and an awards ceremony follows once results are verified.
Registration is handled through Race Roster; individual event fees do not include swag or optional finisher medals, which can be added during registration. Runners are reminded this is a cup-free event: water and electrolyte drink are provided at the start/finish and at aid stations, so plan to carry a personal drinking receptacle for outings longer than an hour.
